Chapter 1 Project: Modeling with Linear Regressions

I went to www.weather.yahoo.com to find the temperatures of the cities I had picked. With those temperatures, I made a table chart. Then, I had to find the linear regression equation, y = ax+b. which was y = .7543228031x + 29.44718828. I then picked three other cities, finding their highest and lowest temperatures. Since I was told to predict the high temperatures of the cities. I substituted the lowest temperature for x in my regression equation, and then solve for y, which would be the highest temperature. The temperatures I got from the regression model was nowhere near the actual high temperatures. But my correlation coeffcient is r^2 = .7849262744 , r = .8859606506
